Go with a Pro......it's your family and your vacation so make
sure your guide is licensed, insured, permitted for local waters. Ask to see their permit for the water they will guide you
on. Your guide should also be trained in CPR and First Aid. Professional guides must have a commercial fishing permit
for the rivers and lakes they fish. Permits cost money and are issued by the Bureau of Land Management, U. S. Forest Service,
and the State of New Mexico. If they have the proper permits it means the guide or fly shop guide service has met all of the
criteria of the issuer and that includes having guide insurance, CPR and First Aid training, vehicle insurance, and has
paid the necessary fees associated with such permits. Be wary of guide shops and individuals holding themselves out as professional
guides; you know the type, they approach you on a lake or river or maybe at a local restaurant selling their so called services. They
might have a fancy website describing all the "waters" they fish and they probably have very nice business cards
that proclaim tham to be a guide. Buyer beware; if the guide heavily discounts the fly trip chances are he or she is not permitted
for public rivers and lakes, is not insured and not properly trained. A "sketchy" guide service can heavily discount
because they are nothing more than "poachers" having not complied with the law and they place you and your family
in great danger. Demand a refund from these clowns and call NM Game and Fish to report them. They are nothing more than scammers.
Be safe, be confident; Go with a Pro!
